Video: Dancing on our solar collectors at Intersolar North America

Thursday, July 21st, 2011 by Solar Fred

If you’ve been a customer or regular reader of our Free Hot Water blog, you may remember a video we did a few months ago to show the durability of our 7000 series solar collectors.  If you don’t remember, here’s a reminder:

Now, we realize that with the exception of floods and tornadoes, there’s little chance your solar customers’ 7000 series collectors will ever be tested by a 3000lb Toyota pick up truck.

The point here was to show how strong and durable our solar collectors are. If they can be run over by a pickup truck, then they’re strong and durable enough to last 20 plus years for any commercial or residential solar thermal project.

Building on this theme at the recent Intersolar North American show, we invited passer bys to walk, strut, or dance on two of our 7000 series solar collectors, which we had framed and placed as the floor of our booth.

Many of you took us up on our offer.  In fact, here’s a sample of two attractive and enthusiastic participants who did dance on our 7000 series collectors. And they enjoyed it.

Click here to see a video of two Intersolar booth visitors dancing a jig on our FHW 7000 series collectors!

Thanks for visiting us at Intersolar. Naturally, if you have any more test suggestions or questions about our collectors or any product, please contact us or submit a comment below.

3 (short) solar PR videos you can use for your solar website

Sunday, March 27th, 2011 by Solar Fred

Need some feel-good solar video PR for your solar thermal website? The Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) produced a series of promotional webisodes last year around the time of Solar Power International. These videos clocked in about 5 or 6 minutes and briefly mentioned/showed solar water heating systems.

Now SEIA has taken those webisodes and chopped them down to 15 second, 30 second, and 1-minute public service announcements (PSAs) that you can re-purpose for your own website.

Now, none of these segments include mentioning solar hot water, but you do get a glimpse of an evacuated tube system in all of them…behind PV panels. Even so, the images may inspire your website visitors to go ahead and contact you for a quote. They’re well done, brief, and attractive, so it certainly can’t hurt if to post somewhere in your blog or website. Every bit of positive solar PR helps.

Below are the 3 shortened videos. Simply click on the video. It will take you to You-Tube, where you can hit the “embed” button. Copy that code of your selected video and then paste it somewhere into the code of your own solar website.

Of course, you can certainly use the full, longer versions, as well. They’re available on SEIA’s You-Tube channel–along with other solar-related news videos. Enjoy.

Hey, Installers: Three Solar Hot Water Videos You Can Use For Your Web Site

Thursday, November 18th, 2010 by Solar Fred

As a manufacturer and distributor, we certainly want our solar installer and distributor partners to succeed. One of the most effective ways to sell anything these days is with video.  Video is of course more visual than text, as like the saying goes, a picture is worth a 1000 words. With video, it’s worth at least 10,000.

Each video is able to be embedded on your own web site. Simply go to the end of each video and cut and copy the HTML code into a page of your web site.

The first two videos are brief demonstration videos of our Free Hot Water racking systems for our solar collectors. This is a great way for installers to show customers how simple it is to construct the racking on the roof of either a commercial installation or a residential one. For our distributors, these videos are a great way to demonstrate to customers how easy it is to install solar thermal solutions with either commercial and residential racking systems.

Videos #1: Residential Solar Hot Water Racking Demo

Video #2: Commercial Solar Hot Water Racking Demo

Video #3: A Feel Good Video about Solar Thermal and Solar PV

Free Hot Water is a member of SEIA, the Solar Energy Industry Association, which has created several videos to promote how solar is growing through America. Below is the West Coast segment, which mentions and shows several solar hot water systems. The video doesn’t mention any particular brand or company. It’s just a good video to show customers that solar is already at work in America.

How to implement these codes on your Web site:

  • At the end of each video, you’ll see three boxes.
  • The bottom box has a code that corresponds to the video.  You’ll see “object style…”
  • Simply copy and paste that code into your own Web site or blog. If you don’t know HTML formatting or have an easy to use Web site platform like Word Press, you may need to have someone position the videos correctly, but they should feed automatically from YouTube.
  • You should add some kind of brief introduction to each video, as I did. “Here’s an assembly video of Free Hot Water’s residential racking system. As you can see, assembly is simple and fast.” Etc.

Feel free to use these videos and spread the word about solar and Free Hot Water’s simple solar thermal solutions. If you’d like to see more details about our solar products, including instruction manuals and specifications, sign up to become a Free Hot Water partner-installer.

Thanks.
