Free Hot Water’s Solar Water Heating Storage Tanks Receive IAPMO Certification

July 26, 2011 – San Jose, Solar manufacturer and distributor Free Hot Water has received International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) certification for its line of European-made solar water heating storage tanks. The new line is expected to gain significant attention from solar thermal installers seeking a durable, high-quality storage tank that is competitively priced.

“We’re proud that our broad range of Free Hot Water solar thermal storage tanks have been rigorously tested and approved by IAPMO,” said Free Hot Water’s chief engineer and co-founder, Gal Moyal. “It’s another example of Free Hot Water’s commitment to product safety and high standards.”

BaymakIAPMO is North America’s premier plumbing and mechanical product certification agency, accredited by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). IAPMO R&T Marks of Conformity are widely recognized and represent the highest degree of integrity in showing compliance with established codes and standards.

The newly certified Free Hot Water solar thermal storage tanks are designed to Free Hot Water’s specifications and manufactured in Europe by Baymak & Baxi Group, a leading European manufacturer of equipment for heating and domestic hot water since 1967.

“We’re very happy with the final product that Baymak manufactured exclusively for us,” said Free Hot Water’s co-founder and COO, Paul Burrowes. “After solar collectors, solar storage tanks are the most important component to modern solar hot water systems. Durability and affordability are especially important for the larger solar thermal systems we engineer, such as apartment complexes, hotels, and other multi-residential projects. We’re proud that these tanks are now IAPMO certified and available to everyone.”

Free Hot Water’s line of pressurized storage tanks can be used for both residential and commercial solar applications. Sizes range from 79 gallons/300 liters to 264 gallon/1000 liters with options for a single coil or a double coil internal heat exchanger for closed loop solar systems. Open loop tanks are also available.

The tanks are constructed with high quality steel and an internal coating with double enameling that is heated at 860 C (1580 F) (vitrified steel). They also feature a Magnesium anode for anti-corrosive protection and a removable top flange for easy interior cleaning.

Because Free Hot Water is the exclusive manufacturer and importer, the company is able offer solar thermal installers a durable storage tank that is priced competitively.

“We saw a huge interest in the tank display model at the recent Intersolar North America show,” added Burrowes. “We’re anticipating a high demand from our distributors and nationwide network of solar thermals installers.”
